A graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago in 1985, Dr. Geissler did his general surgery training at Parkland Memorial Hospital and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School from 1985 through 1990.

He became Board Certified in General Surgery.  He completed his Pediatric Surgical Fellowship at Saint Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia in 1992 and became Board Certified in Pediatric Surgery as well.  He has been an Attending Pediatric Surgeon serving on many hospital medical staffs since that time.  He is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Northwestern Medical School and won the "Excellence in Surgical Teaching" award from the Northwestern University Department of Surgery in 2002.

He is committed to bringing national advanced laparoscopic techniques to benefit our midwest pediatric population.  He has attended many advanced laparoscopic courses throughout the nation and teaches surgical students, residents, and pediatric surgical fellows throughout the Chicago area.  He has studied and discussed his techniques with national experts and presented his research at the International Pediatric Endoscopic Group meetings in Brisbane, Australia in 2001 and Genoa, Italy in 2002. He is a member of the International Pediatric Endoscopic Group and of the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons.
